NCrunch 2.14 with Visual Studio 2015

Hi everyone,

I've just installed Visual Studio 2015 and NCrunch 2.14.

I' ve found 2 big bugs which I've not met with Visual Studio 2013 :

1. I'm unable to debug any tests
2. I do not see anymore the little green and red button side of my code.

Is it possible to fix this ?
I don't want to upgrade because of the price AND the version 2.14 can normally work well with Visual Studio 2015.

So please, fix it for this version.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing these issues. I'll need some more details from you to figure out why this is happening in your environment.

- Do you have any tests visible in the Tests Window for your solution?
- Do you experience these problems if you create a new blank solution with a dummy test project containing one test?
- Can you submit a bug report after you've had these issues appear during your session?
- When you say you're unable to debug tests, can you describe in more detail your experience here?

Note that NCrunch v2.14 was released before VS2015 hit RTM. This makes it impossible to warrant that the version will work in the RTM version of VS2015, as it was designed to run on software that technically didn't exist yet.

I thought I'd just draw attention to something in the release notes for NCrunch 2.15 - http://www.ncrunch.net/download/showChangeLog?version=2.15.

Microsoft introduced quite a significant change in one of the later RCs of VS2015, in which they removed v4.5.3 of the .NET framework, replacing it with .NET 4.6.

In retrospect, this change would have broken NCrunch entirely. NCrunch v2.14 was designed to run its engine and tests using .NET 4.5.3 under VS2015 - a framework that no longer exists.

I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do to make NCrunch v2.14 work in the RTM version of VS2015. To use the product in this version of VS, you'll need to upgrade the product.

Hi,

Thank for your reaction.

I will try to be clear.

1. I've choose the Engine mode : "Run pinned tests …"
2. I've enable Ncrunch engine
3. I've show the "NCrunch tests"
4. All projects compile right
5. I've unignore somes tests in the "NCrunch tests" window

6. I can run tests with debug on/off with this window but there is no difference. I can't break inside any test
7. I do not see any green or red mark

For information, I've tested the same solution with
1. Visual Studio 2013 & NCrunch 2.14 : It works
2. Visual Studio 2015 & NCrunch 2.16 : It works

The upgrade price is just too expansive for me. I've bought this only for my personnal project not for earnning money.

Yep I have the same problems as you:

1) License just expired, so no upgrade even for bug fixes (2.14 latest)

2) No code coverage in 2015 RTM.

You should really reconsider your minor upgrades aren't included policy, as having to pay for upgrade fees for a bug fix is hard to swallow. Now I'm switching between 2013 and 2015 for testing and not. When I first bought ncrunch having all minor versions free was a huge selling point, now that they aren't its hard to justify the upgrade cost.
