You have a definite talent here for finding these sorts of issues :)

I actually discovered this by accident a couple of hours ago, but didn't expect it would immediately hit anyone. The problem is related to some MSBuild reference binding redirections that are no longer working because of the new install method (MSBuild is no longer installed in the GAC).

I'll have a fix for this in 3.1 :)

Awesome. I'm not even really 'finding' them, just loading up my decently big solution for the first time with VS 2017 and seeing what explodes :)

Thanks Remco, just had a chance to take another look at it with v3.1.

Just submitted a bug report for crashing VBCSCompiler and CSC when opening my solution. This only seems to be happening for some projects and seems tied to failure to load MSBuildConfigVS2017.config.

I can try and help diagnose this further if the logs don't help.

Hi, thanks for the bug report. This is a known issue in v3.1. A fix will be out with v3.2 later this week.

You can avoid the problem by using no more than one instance of VS2017 at any one time.

Thanks Remco. Tried out v3.2, the previous file locking issue seems to be gone.

I just submitted another bug report for the crashing compilers, but it looks like the project that is crashing the compiler is crashing when building normally in VS2017, so not an NCrunch issue. Sorry about that!
