We have certain number of ncrunch licenses unused in our company. will unused (not assigned to any user) licenses get wasted after 12months of maintainance period or users will still be able to assign them to themselves after 12 months?

we are using ncrunch license server to manage bulk licenses

Hi, thanks for posting.

The licenses technically aren't a subscription, which means that after the end of their maintenance period, they'll still work just fine. The limitation is that they won't work with versions of the software released after the end of the maintenance period. As such, they aren't wasted, but you will be limited to the versions of the software that were released around the time the licenses were within their period.

The license server will automatically use the oldest license that is able to work with the version of the software requesting a license token.

Hi Thanks for reply,
i had one more question, is there any way to identify which users are actively using license on a daily /monthly basis? how do i identify licenses which are just assigned to users but users are not at all using ncrunch?

The license server uses a system where each license is matched with a token that is given to a user when they connect to it (which happens when NCrunch is being enabled).

If a user with a license token doesn't enable NCrunch for 7 days, the token expires and the license is released on the server. It's then available for any other user to make use of.

In other words, the list of allocated licenses the server is showing you should be an accurate list of everyone that has turned NCrunch on in the last 7 days.
