Optional "Run Tests only after Save"

Running the tests continously in the background is greate when you are on power line.
But if your are on battery ... it sucks the battery out of life.

So please add an "Run Tests only after Save", so that i can code longer in fresh air ;)

Please also consider an automatic switch if a user runs on battery.

You're not the first person that's asked for this, so definitely I think it will need to be included at some stage. At the moment, you could set the system to run tests manually, though it will still run background builds (thus churning up your battery).

Although I've never really tested NCrunch much on batteries, I'd expect that much of the power drain is probably because of the hard disk activity. The constant background builds will spin the HDD up constantly. A way you can reduce this (if your solution is small enough) would be to try configuring NCrunch to deposit its workspaces onto some kind of virtual RAM drive. You'd need to get hold of another piece of software that can create the virtual disk for you, but I have seen this work very well before.
Hardisk is possible, but continuous running 4 Cores need also power ;)

Which RamDisk do you recommend?
Some time ago I experimented with the DATARAM one and found it to work quite well for me. Results will probably vary depending upon your system I'm sure :)

You can reduce your CPU consumption by keeping your MaxNumberOfProcessingThreads setting held at 1, and keeping the system in manual mode while you work. It will still run the builds though.

Edited

I also found DATARAM it works. I will keep an eye on that.

For running tests in Manual Mode i don't need NCrunch ;)

But optional consuming less power on battery is in general a good idea in these times ;)
