I am trying to set up a grid node for distributed processing but I cannot get my development machine to connect.

The setup of the node has gone through correctly and according to the log files it is running and has successfully bound the expected IP and port.

Firewall etc. have all been configured to allow access and I am able to use a telnet client to get a (meaningless!) connection response to the server. When I do this I can see that a message has been sent by the server in the log files.

However, when I fire up VS and add the server to nCrunch I just get a "Not connected" message. I can't see any other information, it doesn't appear to do anything when I click the Connect button (there's no activity recorded by Fiddler either).

There is no information listed under Errors in the distributed processing window.

How can I debug this and find out what is going on? Is there a log file I can check?

Hi, thanks for posting.

Can you confirm whether the NCrunch engine is running while you're doing this? NCrunch always disconnects from the nodes while the engine is disabled. It will attempt to connect when the engine is switched on.

Doh! So as soon as I start the nCrunch engine running it connects!

Thanks!

Suggestion related to this: for status, show "Disabled" instead of "Not Connected" :)
