Is it just me or is the Risk/Progress bar behaving oddly in version 3.2.0.3? I've noticed the following symptoms:

  • When initially loaded, the progress bar shows OK/green even though the Tests window is showing failed tests.
  • When crunching, the risk % displays but the progress bar stays grey until all tests have run, then is suddenly goes to 100% red or green.
  • The risk % computation seems a bit wonky. I've seen it go to 100% a few times today, never seen that before.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for sharing these problems. The Risk/Progress bar has had some issues for a while now and it badly needs a serious rethink. When it was originally designed, the engine was much simpler .. but now we have much more sophisticated states, especially when distributed processing is involved.

I'll take a look at it and see if I can get it to fail in the way you've described .. but for the time being I recommend staying clear of it if it's not working correctly.

It was working reasonably well as recent as 2 minor releases ago. I've just come back to doing development after a few weeks away and have updated all my software, hence noticing the new 'odd' behaviour.

I guess in the grand scheme of things, the Risk/Progress bar isn't the most important feature. I do rather like it though, it is certainly a prominent part of the "emotional interface" if you are prepared to acknowledge that those exist :) FYI, it is what originally caught my eye and attracted me to NCrunch when I saw Jon Skeet using it in one of his TekPub videos with Rob Conery.

Best regards,
Tim

Thanks Tim. I'll see if I can get it fixed :)
