Build/Test Issues

Projects stuck in "Build Assembly - Pending" phase

Started by RichardHauer on 1,838 views

I have a fairly complex solution with about 60 projects in it.
2 of these - Azure Functions Projects - are stuck in a Pending state on the Build Assembly task.

There's no output in the Trace Output window and I turned the build output logging to Diagnostic.

I've restarted everything and deleted workspace folders but nothing seems to help and it seems to be blocking the execution of new tests.
I also just submitted a but report.

Is there somewhere I can go to see other logs that might help me work out what's going wrong here?

Hi, thanks for sending through the bug report.

We just released v4.15 two days ago. Could you give it a try to see if it solves this issue? We implemented a number of fixes in this release.

It's possible to view the logs for the failed tasks in the Processing Queue window (when you have the log verbosity turned up).
I'm having the same issue, as is another colleague in my office. All projects in the solution are showing as Build Assembly/Pending in the Processing Queue, and the NCrunchCache folder is empty. The NCrunch icon in the bottom right corner of VS never stops spinning.

Using NCrunch 4.15.0.4 with Visual Studio 2022 version 17.3.6 (although the issue was there with the previous version of NCrunch too).
Could you submit an NCrunch bug report after the engine has hung? I'll check over the log to see if there is any clue as to why this is happening.

Thanks for sending through the bug report.

This problem seems to be caused by a project in your solution that is being loaded multiple times.

Would you be able to contact me via the support contact form? I'd like to discuss more with you about the structure of this solution. I think there is something here that is malformed, or that we haven't seen before.
