so when i buy the 159 dollar license for a year, does that mean i have to refresh it each year?

or do i have "infinite" usage of the version until the first year expires, so i just wont receive updates

It means that you have infinite usage of the versions that the license gives you access to (which is the current version, all prior versions, and all later versions released within 1 year of the license purchased).
