Sometimes I have the problem that NCrunch simply doesn't run the tests. It seems stuck somewhere.

The indicator in the status bar of VS currently has a gray thirteen and the indicators of 5 tasks are circling around that number, but it isn't actually doing anything. I waitet 5 minutes already.

"Stop pending Tests", doesn't do anything either.

I submitted a report just in case.

I tried resetting NCrunch but after 5 minutes the engine was still disabled :-(
I submitted a report for that, too.

Now, after 8 minutes the reset completed. Unfortunately, NCrunch still doesn't do anything. It has a whole bunch of entries in the processing queue, all with a question mark and the status "Pending".

I don't know if this is relevant, but I killed all of NCrunch's BuildHost and TestHost processes after waiting five minutes for the reset to complete.

A restart of Visual Studio brought NCrunch back to life.

Hi Dan,

From the bug report you submitted, it looks as though NCrunch somehow managed to establish a malformed picture of your solution where one of the project was duplicated internally.

I'm not sure if there's much I can do about this problem without steps to reproduce it. Please let me know if you find a way to cause this to happen consistently.

Cheers,

Remco

I don't think I can reproduce this. It happened once, maybe twice, in 28 days of testing.

I get this issue about 1~3 times a week. Have to Reset (Resynchronize) NCrunch or restart VS to bring it back. I thought this was a known issue so didn't report it. I also don't think I can reproduce this.

I'm not sure but it seems it happens more often when I work with xaml files and when I rename or move a lot of types.

Resharper's "solution-wide analysis" and VS both have similar issue. VS gets slower and slower when work with xaml files. Have to restart every 0.5~2hours. Can't believe they didn't fix this in vs2012. Resharper often displays wrong compile errors when I rename or move lots of types. Have to manually reanalyze or restart VS to fix it.

Thanks guys. I think that this is caused by a rare race condition or message sequencing issue inside the core engine that occurs when large changes are being made to the solution/project structure within a very short space of time. I'm thirsty for a way to reproduce it, so please do let me know if you find out more about it.

I have not experienced this issue again since upgraded to v1.43 about 12 days ago. Seems fixed. Cheers!
