Hi,

I have an issue with my company seat license.

My company bought 3 seat licenses in Oct last year and we are using all 3.

I am randomly being asked to re-enter the key which is getting annoying. The other 2 developers have not had the issue, and we cannot see why it keeps coming up just for me.

It happily accepts the same key it had before each time, but seems to randomly forget it.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Remco

Hi, thanks for posting and for your purchase!

This sounds like a state related issue and is probably related to the security configuration on your machine.

Can you get in touch with me directly via the contact form? (http://www.ncrunch.net/Support/Contact) I'll help you to solve this issue offline.

Cheers,

Remco

I've been having the same problem. I think it may be my machine's registry cleaner (Norton 360). I'll be fine for a day or two, then I'll log in and it will require the license information.

Something that may solve this problem is to go through the following steps after this has failed for you (and your license details are empty):

1. Shut down Visual Studio without entering your license details (cancel out of the license pane, or choose the evaluation license)
2. Load up Visual Studio as an administrator (RunAs administrator)
3. Open up the license details, enter your license name and key
4. Click OK to save the license details
5. Shut down VS, then reload it as a non administrator

The forgetfulness of NCrunch is almost certainly caused by security constraints on your system or the activity of 3rd party software (i.e. virus scanners, registry cleaners, etc). Storing the details as an administrator reduces the risk of interference from the O/S security.

If the above steps don't solve the issue, try the following:

1. Open up VS/NCrunch, go to the license details dialog
2. Select 'Use evaluation license', click OK
3. Restart the IDE
4. Enter your license details
5. Close down the IDE, then clear out the contents of your current user 'temp' directory (i.e. C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp)
6. Open up VS/NCrunch, issue should hopefully now be resolved

A fix has been logged for the next minor revision to fix a recently discovered defect in this area.

For anyone interested, a fix for this problem has been introduced with the newly released version of NCrunch (v1.45).
