NCrunch 1.41b + TypeMock Isolator V7.1.1.0 -> Faking DateTime fails
This issue seems as though it may be similar to an earlier reported issue related to TypeMock Isolator V7: http://forum.ncrunch.net/yaf_postst347_System-NullReferenceException-when-running-with-isolator-V7.aspx The residence of the TMockRunner.exe processes indicates that NCrunch is correctly loa…

Renaming Test Library
Hi Mark - Thanks for reporting this. I'm eager to try and gain some steps to reproduce this problem. Does it happen for you consistently when you rename projects? If you can get it to happen again, try submitting a bug report - the log file may help me to find out why the engine has messed its…

Use personal license at work?
Hi Mike - The intention of the Named User license is for just what you are suggesting, i.e. someone who wants to use NCrunch themselves (for work or home), without constraint on who you are working for or the type of work you are doing. There are no restrictions on having the license set up on…

Add project-level setting for running tests in parallel/sequential.
Hi, thanks for the suggestion! I'm wondering if the best way to implement this may be to make some of the NCrunch.Framework attributes work at assembly level. For example, you could then apply an attribute to the test assembly in the form: [assembly: NCrunch.Framework.Serial] And this wo…

Can't get log output from NHibernate with NCrunch.
Hi, thanks for posting! My suspicion is that there is an implicit reference between the log4net code and the NHibernate logger. Most likely log4net is searching for additional loggers within your build output directory by scanning through adjacent assemblies that export a particular interface, o…

NCrunch 1.41b + TypeMock Isolator V7.1.1.0 -> Faking DateTime fails
Hi, thanks for posting! Can you share any more details about the experience you have when the test fails in NCrunch? i.e. does it throw a runtime exception when it reaches the Isolate call, or does it simply behave as though the date hasn't been stubbed? One way you can check whether the NCrun…

NCrunch 1.41.0.50 for VS2012 RTM zip install failed
Thanks for the heads up. I'll do some extra testing around this to see if it's a widespread issue. The ZIP packages are only really supplied for problems with the MSIs, so I do recommend you try to use the MSIs where possible! Cheers, Remco

Last build successful, rebuilding (forever)
Although I'd say that accessing a file in this location is probably undesirable (and is something you should look at), I don't think that this is directly related to the recursive build issue you've described. In order for NCrunch to keep rebuilding the same project, it must be referencing your ori…

Bug with System.Random
Hi John, thanks for sharing this issue. The problem appears to be caused by the code itself. I was able to surface the issue in a multitude of different test runners and confirmed that it happens intermittently. The constructor for the Random class, by default, will initialise itself using th…

System.Security.VerificationException: Operation could destabilize the runtime
For anyone else that experiences the above issue, I've done a bit more digging to try and get to the core of why NCrunch is behaving differently to other test runners in this situation. Because of the need to support pre-v4 versions of the .NET framework, NCrunch makes use of .NET framework 2.0 a…

NSpec support
Matt Florence (one of the co-authors of NSpec) has been very much carrying the flag on this one, and I think it's quite a big flag to carry. If you're interested in donating some time towards the cause, you might want to get in touch with him. At present he has a Gallio adapter that is much of the…

Last build successful, rebuilding (forever)
If the nuget.packages.config file is the culprit, I think the key issue here would be trying to identify why the SetBasicInformationFile is being performed against the nuget.packages.config file in your foreground solution directory instead of in the NCrunch workspace. Make sure than when you're …

Won't build a project that uses /unsafe compiler switch
The 'Use CPU Architecture' setting is specific to the test environment, and doesn't have an impact on the build. This setting actually exists primarily for frameworks like MSTest, where there is no clear standard between test runners which CPU architecture should be used for execution when the test…

Won't build a project that uses /unsafe compiler switch
Hi Phil - I'll add the platform property to a new configuration option in the upcoming 1.42 release. It really should have been in there much earlier and I'm not sure if I can give any good reason for having left it this late. As far as I know, the default configuration/platform in the .proj …

Portable class libraries fail to build if they include metro
Wow! Nice work! This is much cleaner than two projects trying to cross-compile the same code. Thanks for taking the time to post this! Something you might find useful is that NCrunch always sets a build property $(NCrunch) equal to '1'. You might be able to use this to help simplify the overr…

Last build successful, rebuilding (forever)
Hi, thanks for posting! Usually this problem is caused by absolute file path references that reach out from NCrunch's workspace and manipulate files that exist in your original solution directory. Make sure you don't have any build steps or tests that access files using absolute file paths. I…

Won't build a project that uses /unsafe compiler switch
Hi Phil - NCrunch will always use the default build $(Configuration) and $(Platform) that is specified in your .proj files. This can sometimes be a cause of confusion for people, as the build configuration in the Visual Studio IDE allows you to choose (and thus inject) different values into the …

Login to database failed
It has been very encouraging the number of people who have said to me 'You know? I really didn't actually GET writing tests until I used NCrunch'. I'd be lying if I said this was the original intention of the product, but to this day I see it as one of the best things about it. There's nothing q…

Login to database failed
I guess it wouldn't be a surprise to you to know that your post brought a big beaming smile to my face :) Much of what has kept me going on this project (and WILL no doubt keep me going) is the same excitement you've described ... about discovering a whole new product area that is almost completely…

An error occurred while analysing this project after it was built: System.NullReferenceException
I'll note the NUnit 2.6.1 issue down to be resolved in a future build, hopefully v1.42. Thanks for making me aware of it! Cheers, Remco
